Bevey Miner has a vision to reform industries. Having been an instrumental leader revamping our financial industry during the early 1990’s and most recently a leading advocate for the introduction of technology in our healthcare sector, Ms. Miner will now take that same passion to help lead the efforts of the Nanotechnology Research Foundation.
Ms. Miner was hired by Allscripts in 2006 to help design a program to offer free electronic prescribing to every physician in America. The mission of the National ePrescribing Patient Safety Initiative (NEPSI) is to eliminate the more than 7,000 deaths and 1.5 million injuries annually that are caused by medication errors. With recent legislation passed by congress more than 250,000 physicians will soon be required to replace the error prone prescription pad with a computer. Herald as a success, the NEPSI program, backed by sponsors such as Google, Microsoft, Dell, Sprint, Cisco, Fujitsu, WellPoint and Aetna, will be the catalyst for that adoption, which will increase our quality of care by reducing these preventable errors.
Ms. Miner is no stranger to leading efforts to reform an industry. Previous to her focus on healthcare technology, Ms. Miner was a key player in the adoption of interstate banking. Through her public affairs efforts with Citigroup, Ms. Miner negotiated the passing of interstate banking in Arizona and the first introduction of the ATM machine, which ultimately led to the reform of our financial system and the advent of ubiquitous access to financial information.
Taking this same passion for change, Ms. Miner will help lead the efforts of the Nanotechnology Research Foundation quest to use innovative technology for breakthrough discovers that will help saves lives and increase our quality of life.
Ms.Miner’s responsibilities are to help build the structure and foundation of the Nanotechnology Research Foundation as well as manage board relations and help set strategy and policy.
After graduating from Arizonia State University with a BS degree in Journalism, Ms. Miner started her career as a journalist for the Arizona Republic and the ABC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona.
