Surinder Singh is a seasoned executive with 28 years of wide-ranging domestic and foreign professional experience in the Financial Services Sector. Most recently, he was the CEO and Managing Director of Citigroup’s consumer business in the United Kingdom. In this role, Surinder developed and executed the turnaround plan for the business, which included management team staffing and development, integration, restructuring, closing of facilities, significant credit policy and process changes and re-engineering of business processes.
His assignments with responsibilities in the U.S., Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa, Indian sub-continent, Mexico, China and Brazil provide the platform for his continued career success in international and domestic markets.
He was also instrumental in the acquisition of the world’s biggest stand alone on-line bank which added more than three million customers and increased Citigroup’s credit card market share in the UK from less than 1% to over 7%. The excellent analytical, problem-solving and management skills provide the basis for his continued success in business. He is a natural leader with a very keen sense of business direction, and is one of the very few Financial Services Sector Industry executives with the in-depth knowledge and a track record of success in building businesses in broad cross functional global environments.
While at Citigroup, Surinder has acted in both CEO/CFO capactites with a wide-ranging domestic and foreign professional experience in the Financial Services Sector. He has also been recognized for significant expertise in business turn-arounds, excelling in analytical problem-solving, management skills, growing profitability, restructuring and negotiating acquisitions and divestitures.
